About Our Classes
We have structured the class offerings at Legacy Glass Art to offer you the maximum time flexibility and still be able to be sure you receive one-on-one instruction to follow your progress. Classes are offered on Wednesday 11:00 am to 2:00pm and 6:00pm to 9:00pm and on Saturday from 11:00 to 2:00. Reserve your space when you want to attend one of these class times and you will never miss a class!
BEGINNING SUNCATCHERS $ 65
TWO classes. This is our beginning class where we use the foil method of construction. In this class you will learn how to cut, grind, foil, and solder glass components. You will complete a window "suncatcher" during the class times. Choose your pattern from the class pattern book and away you go! All the necessary materials are included along with the use of classroom tools.
BEGINNING COPPER FOIL CONSTRUCTION $ 100
FIVE classes. In this class you will learn how to make a panel approximately 14" x 18". You will choose from class patterns. Cost is for instruction. Tools, materials & glass are extra. We have some select glass for free use by students, but you will need to purchase your own tools, materials and other glass. We will take you from pattern choice through glass cutting foiling methods, soldering, metal framing & puttying your piece. You will have the skills to take on your next project successfully!

LEAD CAME CONSTRUCTION $ 100
FIVE classes. After several foil projects you will be ready to add lead came to your list of skills We will cover all aspects from design, construction techniques & planning to reinforcement and final puttying. You will be able to choose an existing pattern or design your own within practical size limitations. You may need to plan for homework depending on the complexity of your pattern. You will need your own tools from foil construction plus a few that are specifically for lead came. Cost is for instruction. Tools, materials & glass are extra.
LEAD CAME ADDITIONAL TOOLS from $ 31.50
You will need the items in the foil kit, as above, plus:
lead dykes
came fid
lead pattern shears
glazer's hammer & nails
BUILDING WITH BEVELS $ 125
FIVE classes. In this class you will learn to design and build a panel using a pre-cut bevel cluster. We will begin with the bevel 'template', learn to design around fixed objects and fit into fixed size openings. You will choose & order your bevel cluster during the first class. Prior experience with both foil construction and lead came is required. You will use your tools and supplies.
TIFFANY STYLE LAMPS $125
FIVE classes + homework. NOT FOR BEGINNERS - Prior experience with glass cutting and foil projects is required. You will choose a lamp design & order your mold or panel pattern during the first class. You will need your own tools and will be introduced to some specialized tools for lamps. Plan on spending some time on your own building and scheduling your class times as needed at each stage.
SOLDERING TECHNIQUES $ 30
This is a 1 1/2 to 2 HOUR workshop for those that wish to improve the looks of their soldering. We will observe your technique and give you ideas to add speed and smoothness. Bring your supplies & iron and a current project to work on.
CUTTING TECHNIQUES $30
This 1 1/2 to 2 HOUR workshop is specifically for those who only want to do mosaics or other crafts. You will learn to cut glass strips and gentle curves with or without a pattern in a one-on-one session. No tools are needed, but you may want to purchase your own glass cutter.
